Spring 2009

I feel that this year has been very helpful to me as an upcoming teacher. After taking both Professor Kist and Professor Noden’s classes, I feel much more prepared to student teach next spring. Up until this point, I felt as if I was not learning the necessary things that would help me actually come up with lesson plans, but after this semester, I feel more confident in making lesson plans, and also coming up with activities that will keep my students stay active in the classroom.

Some of the fun activities that I have learned in these classes include team building exercises, ice breakers, writing prompts, and many other great ideas that will keep my students captivated. I feel that by using these activities, and other activities that I have learned along the way, I will be able to make learning a much more enjoyable process for my students

  1. Aren't you so happy that we finally learned how to make lesson plans? I can remember back in classes such as Ed. Psychology my professor having us make lesson plans with no given format! I had NO idea what I was doing! In a sense, I wish that I would have been taught earlier in my college career so I could have a reportoire of lesson plans! You know what I mean?

  2. I feel like I have learned a lot too! I like all the ice breakers Professor Kist has given us. I plan to use some of them next year while student teaching.

I also am more confident about lesson planning after taking both classes. I feel that I know how to format them and what needs to be included in them.

  3. I agree with learning how to write a lesson plan! It is nice to have a format that I can follow that makes me dissect each part of the lesson and look at it individually and how it works as a whole. One thing that I wish we did was develop our own unit plans. I know that we are doing that in the fall, but I would have liked to have been exposed to writing unit plans as soon as possible.

  4. I agree with you as well! Before these two classes I felt so unprepared to teach. The thought of it scared me, but now after Professor Kist and Professor Noden's classes, I feel more knowledgeable and comfortable with teaching. I'm glad we finally learned how to make lesson plans!
